About PUCHU Technologies

A Ugandan ICT company, building for the whole continent.

We started PUCHU Technologies because too many good organisations across Africa were being sold technology they couldn't maintain, didn't own, and didn't fully understand. We do the opposite: build things that fit, explain them plainly, and stay to support them.

Our story

Founded in Kajjansi, working wherever the problem is.

PUCHU Technologies is based at Kajjansi Town Council in Busiro, on the Kampala–Entebbe corridor. It's a deliberate home. We're close enough to the capital's businesses, agencies and institutions to sit in a room with a client, and rooted enough in everyday Ugandan realities — the connectivity, the power, the budgets — that we design for them by instinct rather than as an afterthought.

The company grew out of a simple frustration shared by our founders: watching capable teams inherit systems that only their original vendor could touch. Websites nobody could update. Databases with no backups. Cloud bills nobody could explain. We set out to be the firm that hands the keys back — that builds well, documents everything, and treats a client's independence as a feature, not a threat to future invoices.

Today we work with organisations of very different shapes — a startup validating its first product, an NGO answerable to international donors, a district office digitising a public service, a school trying to spend less time on paperwork and more on students. What connects them is the need to trust the people holding their infrastructure. Earning that trust is the whole job.

Mission

Put dependable technology within reach of every serious African organisation.

Not the flashiest technology, and not the cheapest — the dependable kind. The kind that a clinic, a cooperative or a council can build a real process on and not lie awake worrying about. Our mission is to make that quality of engineering and support normal, not a luxury reserved for the largest budgets.

What we're aiming at

  • Clients who understand and control their own systems
  • Software that survives staff turnover because it's documented
  • Digital services that work on the connections people actually have
  • A local team growing skilled technology careers in Uganda

Our values

Five commitments we're happy to be judged on

Values are only worth stating if they change decisions. These do — most obviously when it would be easier or more profitable for us to ignore them.

Plain speaking

We explain trade-offs in language a non-technical board can follow, and we tell you when the cheaper or simpler option is the right one — even if it means a smaller invoice.

Ownership, always

Your code, accounts, domains and data are yours from day one, registered in your name. Leaving us should never mean losing your systems.

Do it properly

Backups, security, testing and documentation aren't extras we upsell. They're part of what "finished" means, on every project we put our name to.

Designed for here

Low bandwidth, intermittent power and mobile-first users are our default assumptions, not edge cases we discover after launch.

Stay for the long run

We'd rather have fifty clients we support for years than five hundred we build for once and never hear from again.

Useful over impressive

We reach for new tools — AI included — only where they solve a named problem better than the boring option. Novelty is never the point.

How we approach client work

Fewer surprises, because the work happens in the open

1

Understand first

Before we quote, we learn how your organisation really works today — the workarounds, the paper, the spreadsheets people quietly depend on.

2

Scope in writing

You get a clear document: what we'll build, what we won't, what it costs, and how we'll know it's done. No moving goalposts.

3

Deliver in slices

We ship in short cycles you can see and test, so feedback shapes the product while changes are still cheap to make.

4

Hand over & support

Documentation, training and a support agreement mean the system keeps working long after the launch-day excitement fades.

The team

Roles you'll actually work with

We show our team as branded placeholders below rather than stock photos of people. Named colleagues and their own bios and photos will replace these once approved — we won't present a stranger's stock image as a member of our team.

Engagement lead

Your main point of contact

Owns the relationship end to end: scoping, timelines, and making sure what we deliver matches what you were promised.

Software engineers

Build & integration

Design and write the software, apps and integrations — and the tests and documentation that keep them maintainable.

Cloud & security

Infrastructure & protection

Stand up hosting and cloud in your own accounts, harden it, and monitor for the problems you'd rather never hear about.

Product & design

Usability & adoption

Make sure the people who'll actually use the system find it clear, fast and worth switching to.

Support & success

After go-live

Handle day-to-day requests, maintenance and the steady stream of small improvements that keep a system healthy.

IT consulting

Advice & strategy

Independent guidance on procurement, roadmaps and vendor decisions — including honest advice to not build something.
